While searching for current news on Tanzania, I came across a wonderful short video on Tanzania. Tanzania - well named as the ‘Authentic Africa’. The clip has been produced by the Tanzania Tourist Board in conjuction with BBC and other major institutions and made in Belgium.
My words will not do any justice to the quality of this production, so I shall just let you sit back and enjoy the clip. Just click the [>] button and away you go to Tanzania: Authentic Africa!!
The Camel Trophy is an annual event putting 4WD vehicles to the test on the most rigorous terrains imaginable. Both man and machine is put to a very hard test of character and endurance. The Camel Trophy 1991 took place in Tanzania and Burundi. Starting from Dar Es Salaam, via Mbanga and Selous and ending in Bujumbura, Burundi. All the teams drove the Landrover tDI - Turbo Diesel 4WD.
This post has nothing to do with Musoma. But, Musomians will agree that, Landrovers are an integral part of our memories of our respective lives in Africa. As is the East African Safari Rally with the famous exploits of Joginder Singh. The boxy Landrovers of the 60s and 70s have not progressed to the tDis and the Range Rovers.
Here are some Grumeti Reserve pictures all one screen.
I am sure Alastair of Grumeti Reserves will be forced to insist on some free hospitality for the Musomians, at the Grumeti Reserves Resorts, after seeing the excellent, brilliant, absolutely stupendous work in making the following ‘video’ moving clip!
The following Video (Moving Clip) has nothing to do with anything remotely connected with Musoma or even Africa. While cleaning out my email inbox I came across this Forwarded Email with presentation of the workings and mechanism of the Dabbawalas in Mumbai(Bombay), India. I find it pretty much interesting and amazing, every time I see this presentation, how so much is done by so few, for so little. A mere $4.00/month!!
Those who are familiar with life in Bombay will know that the Dabbawalas are a very important and integral part of life. People get to their respective offices/work places early. Instead of buying lunch (frugal is an Indian’s inherent charachter) or carrying lunch (which would be quite cold by lunch time), practically every apartment in Mumbai use the services of these Dabbawalas.
The lunch is put in a Tiffin Carrier which then goes into a simple insulated outer container - called the Dabba! And the Dabba then goes on a convoluted, yet effective journey to its destination by the designated lunch time and one more journey back to its home after lunch.
All this with no use of any level of Technology or training.
