“It is with sad heart we have to inform that Dolatkhanu Kassam Bhanji Adatia, popularly known as Dolu Teacher, has passed away after a short illness. (In Dar Es Salaam, on January 16, 2010)

Dolu Teacher has shaped and influenced the lives of many Musomians, both as a teacher and private tutor, and also as a friend and colleague. After leaving Aga Khan Primary School, she joined the bank in Musoma and later went to Dar-es-Salaam.

She will be fondly remembered and may Allah rest her soul in eternal peace.”

Congratulations to Mr. Jaswantbhai and Mrs. Snehlata Rao who celebrated their Golden (50th) Wedding Anniversary on Saturday 12th December, 2009 at The 3 Oceans Restaurant & Club in Finchley, London.

The event was a surprise, organised by Trushna & Rakesh (The Rao siblings!) and was attended by 130 relatives, friends and many Musomians. It was a memorable event and Rakesh and his wife flew in from Atlanta – USA ( another surprise!).

To reach this milestone is an event worth celebrating and all those who attended took away some good memories of the event and of their past experiences with the Raos !

We wish the couple an even longer and memorable married life.

This is a message from Prof. Sospeter  Muhongo, received directly by Riyaz Jiwani and Harshad Kothari. Please consider this a call for all Musomians to support Prof. Muhongoin every which way you can.

Musoma is on the world stage.

Kindly receive my (Sospeter Muhongo) Vision for UNESCO of the 21st Century. This is a 6-page document for dissemination (together with the attached abridged CV of 07.07.2009) to as many destinations as possible.

The shorter version, 4-page document (1,998 words) has been submitted to UNESCO.

Also..

Examples of visionary leadership and high-impact delivery:

Excellence in science, technology and innovation should be closely linked to policy-and decision making processes aiming to bring about predictable economic prosperity and sustainable development of any country. UNESCO DG candidate from Tanzania (Prof Sospeter M Muhongo) is championing this developmental paradigm in Africa (attachments).

Document I – Science with Africa: is the publication of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), African Union Commission

(AUC) and their partners. Prof Sospeter M Muhongo was the Rapporteur-General (and the main author of the report) of this highly successful meeting which took place in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) in March 2008.

Document II – Dialogue between politicians, policy-makers and scientists: is the publication of the ICSU Regional Office for Africa.

Prof Sospeter M Muhongo was the convener (and the senior author of the report) of this highly successful symposium and dialogue which took place in October 2008 in Maputo (Mozambique).

Document III – Book in press titled, “Science, Technology and Innovation for Socio-economic Development: Success Stories from Africa. This book will be published by November 2009 (latest).

Again, you will continue being convinced that the Tanzanian candidate (Prof Sospeter M Muhongo) is the most suitable one for the position of the Director General of UNESCO for the benefit of humanity, world peace and security, and for international cooperation. Please we humbly and kindly count on you and your country for the vote (for Tanzania).

Kindly, share these documents with your colleagues and your Government.

Again, you will continue being convinced that the Tanzanian candidate (Prof Sospeter M Muhongo) is the most suitable one for the position of the Director General of UNESCO. Please continue soliciting the vote (for Tanzania) from the UNESCO member states (193 governments, starting with your own Government: Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Ministry responsible for UNESCO in your country). Please, share my vision with your colleagues and your Government.

With my greatest appreciation,

Sospeter Muhongo
