It is with sadness that I would like to inform my fellow Musomians that my mother, DALJIT KAUR SANDHU [wife of late Balram Singh Sandhu (Avocate of Musoma)] passed away on 17th of October 2012 at 7 p.m. in Dar es Salaam.
She was 86 years old.
She leaves behind three sons, two daughters, 12 grand children and 3 great grand children.

I announce with deep regret and sadness the sad demise of the wife of Late Mr. Balram Singh Sandhu (THE PROMINENT LAWYER) of MUSOMA, who was very well known by all the MUSOMIANS and the beloved mother of Mr. Pritpal Singh,(Canada) Mr. Rupinder Singh,(Tanzania) Mr. Sukhbir Singh,(Tanzania) Ms.Baljinder and Ms. Kiran (India). She passed away today Wednesday, the 17th October 2012 in Dar es salaam after a long illness. Late Mrs. Sandhu served as a teacher for many years in both The Nanak Chand Indian Public School and the H H The Agakhan Public School in Musoma. She was a great, strong and an inteligent personality. Social and friendly. She will be sadly and immensely missed by her children, daughter in laws, son in laws, grand children, great grand children, relatives, friends and ofcourse by all the Musomians who knew her well. May Almighty God and Wahe Guru rest her departed soul in eternal peace and give the bereived family strength, courage and relief to over come the loss and grief. Thank you harshad for knowing my mother and remembering her. She was very close to your family and aunts. Did you know she hated Musoma when she came as young bride and wanted to return to her haveli and life of comfort. But gradually she blended in with the Musoma ladies and learned how to cook and keep house with the ever extending helping hands of the ladies community in Musoma. She grew to love the town she disliked.

Your surname is unfamiliar to me though I think you are Ruby’s brother and Amarjeet bhenji’s son. As a child, I played a lot in your house beyond Nanak Chand School. I used to force my mother to send me to your house for day overs and then refuse to return. Your mother could not control me and my mother was happy for the good riddance. So u can imagine how close my mom was to your mom. Thank you for remembering her.

My mother was very fond of dressing and loved clothes. As a kid, I remember her getting all her finery ready for your sister kumud ben’s wedding; months in advance. Stuff was brought from India just for the highlight. She poured over magazines to get ideas and spent hours getting ready for the ceremonies till I thought we were never going to go and all my favourite foods would be over.
