Hello Yasmin
So nice to hear from you.
My father CMRao was one of the friends of your (AmershiJamal,EsmailJamal,AlibhaiJamal and AbdulmalekJamal)- I used to address them with respects as Uncles?
Your dad was really a very very successful businessman and had a nice house nearer to Thakrar Mansion near the Bank. His shop always was full of Textiles and other things.
Later on Kassamali Alibhai bought the building if i am right. I still remember the delicious FALUDA at all my fellow Ismailies friends – Duli, LateAziz, Late Mehndi, and of course, Pyarlibhai Jamal all of them i had personal rapport on the corner building of Uncle Amershi Jamal-where the first Musoma Rosy Cafe was located.
Late Sadru and Late Nizar were great friends since childhood from the Esmail Jamal family opposite SOKONI in Poonater Building. He, too, was a successful businessman.
Abdul Malek Jamal also had a shop near Esmail Jamal and was always trying his best in business. I believe he had a son, i forgot his name.
Please enlist yourself and then ask MOEZ in New Jersey to register also and please try to convey fellow Musomians too and oblige.
In New Jersey there is a very famous Musomawalla. His name is Mr Kantibhai N Patel, who owned MAHENDRA STORES next to Sadru Walji Uncle and later on sold the House of Health/Mahendra Stores to Amershi Jamal’s son Pyarlibhai A Jamal(now in Canada and daily contact with us).
I have sent you Kantibhai’s address and contact details via direct email. Please do get in touch.
Next great Musoma Reunion is around the corner Inshallah.
Lots of love to you from Uncle and Aunty Rao and blessings to your family.
Asante sana.
Best wishes
Uncle Jashwant’s Allah Hafeez
Yasmin, I do remember you. You did come to visit Musoma from Dar sometimes in 1975 and we would go and play Badminton after JK and dinner. You would come with the girl from Arusha (Farida bai’s sister-in-law, I think Jaibeen was her name – I met her in Portugal in 1986) and after the game we would walk you home. I used to play with Riyaz Popat (now in Calgary), Riyaz Bhanji (now in Dar) etc. You were visiting Late Sadru Ismail Jamal and their family.
I also remember your father and mother and once saw you in Dar (but you were busy pushing their wheel chair) and never got a chance to talk to you.
I am in Toronto. I met your brother Firoz few years ago (1987/88, I think) and have lost touch with him too. He used to own a donut store. Where are you. There are a lot of Musoma people in Toronto and you can meet them or make contact with them.
Mr. Rao, Abdul Malek Jamal’s son you might be referring to is Nizar. He also has another son, Amin, but he was in Dar, and the funny, jolly guy, Noorallah. They are all in Toronto, including their sister, doctor (I forget her name). His eldest daughter, Mary, married to Imtiaz Bhanji Mitha is in Toronto and I do meet them in JK at times.
Rakesh, I would appreciate it if you passed my email to Yasmin
I certainly will pass on your email to Yasmin via email.

Hello Yasmin,
I am Rajoo Patel, born and brought up in Musoma. Although ! I remained in and out of Musoma between 1963 and 1987, and finally left Musoma in the Dec.of 1987. I have visited Musoma several times may be (eight times) since then. My last visit was this year in April.
Each time I go there, I feel I am back home and feel so excited and become sentimental. I mean the feelings and the experiences by being there physically, are just so difficult to express through mere words.
Since mine was one of the families, who lived longer and left Musoma much later, I can probabley try to share a lot of memories and info. past and the present with all the Musomians.
In response to your message, I remember your family very well. Your Dad had an OPEL car.He was very kind, generous and a warm person. Why I say so? and Why I know this? Because every time in the Boy Scouting ,when we were out on the field for a Bob A Job project, I would go to him and every time he would ask me to clean his OPEL CAR. In return, he would donate generously without a fuss. I remember your brothers Firoz and Zully and your sister Nasim too ! I distinctly remember where your family lived and the location of your Dad’s shop, as one day I dropped my elder sister’s TIKKU pen outside in the front of your shop. It was recovered by the Late Alibhaikaka (your Dad) next morning and he gave it back to me warning me to be more carefull
We used to very fondly call your brother Firoze Butterfly (coz he used to move every where on the volleyball court, like a butterfly in the field.) Your brother Zully and I had good time togeather in the Boy Scouting. He had very curly hair growth though ! and we used to call him Zully Curly. I also remember all of your Uncles and their entire extended family members.
I will be very gratefull and appreciate so much !!! If you can get me the contact of your funny cousin and my dear friend Nurallah Abdul Malek Jamal.
Kindly convey my best regards to all, if you happen to talk to them next.
Rgds, and Take care.
Rajoo Patel.
