It is with deep regret and sorrow that I have to inform all Musomians that my brother-in-law, Mr Murad Musa Jamal of Toronto, Canada passed away on Monday 21 December 2009. Muradbhai was 71 years old and had not been well for a while after a fall due to ice. The funeral will take place on Thursday 24 December.

Muradbhai came from a large and prominent family in Musoma before moving to Toronto where most of his family now live. He is survived by his wife, Rozila, and two sons, Shamir and Alykhan.

May Allah bless him and rest his soul in eternal peace. Amen.

Congratulations to Dr. Manjul (Manny) Vasant who won the Professional of The Year Award at the Grand Awards Event held at the new Wembley Stadium – Great Room.

This glittering event was organised by Asian Voice and Gujarat Samachar Weekly Magazines and was attended by some 800 people including Members of Parliament, Top Business, Community and Professional people.

The Chief Guest was Baroness Shriti Vadera – Former Advisor to Prime Minister Gordon Brown and now his representative/advisor to G20 Presidency.

Dr. Vasant follows Firoz Kassam’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.

So far, two prominent Musomians have won these prestigious Awards and I am sure that all Musomians will be proud of their personal achievements.
