Canada thi aaivo maro friend Noorali |
“Canada thi aaivo maro friend, Noorali” – a song which has been flying around the world as a fwd. Aptly it is composed to the tune of an evergreen hindi film song: Ghar aaya mera pardesi!
Ask anyone who is remotely connected with ‘Africa’ and they would probably know about this song. Most of Musomians would have heard it already, since it is through Mzee J C Rao and Anil Shah that I first received this song via email.
While the song is humorous and light in mood, it does highlight the changes in outlook, lifestyle and also the attire ‘vilaayat – Kenayda, London, Amayrika’ can make in an immigrant from ‘Africa’.
I am not able to directly upload audio to this blog (yet!), so have to use a roundabout way in order to share the song with all of you. A video with the song and some images was created and uploaded to YouTube which allows embedding into this blog. As a bonus, you get to see some wonderful sights of Canada and Tanzania. Perhaps some of you can try identifying the places in the video below.
A request goes out to all of you; If you know who has composed this song, would you please let MusomaBlog know so that due credit and acknowledgment can be given for the effort and time spent in creating this song.
If Musomians want to share this post with friends and family, just copy and send this link via email.
