Musoma ‘Today’ Photos | Contributed by Anil Chudasama

New content coming soon! informed Musomians of some pictures that have been received by MusomaBlog and will make for interesting browsing through.

Following the earlier pictures submitted under {Old Musoma Pictures | Contributed by Mr Vikram Thind}, here is the next set of pictures.

The following pictures had been submitted, via email, some time back by Mr Anil Chudasama. The recent news of the passing away of Musomians did not make it conducive to post the pictures.

Mr Anil Chudasama, will obviously know, the places and location in Musoma where these pictures have been taken. Maybe fellow Musomians can chip in and share their memories of Musoma of old and how it looks today.

Nice photos, and good job for putting Musoma on the web. I was born in Dar es Salaam in 1977, but have connection with the cool, beautiful, and clean small town of Musoma. I’m excited to learn more about Musoma from you guys. Thank you.

It was so nostalgic seeing these photos. I hv been visiting musoma for the last 12 years as my parents stayed there. That time there was no Matvilla hotel, the snaps show the same. Now since my parents have shifted last year, i dint get a chance to go to Musoma. I miss Musoma very much, although a very small town but it had its own charm. The people over there are so friendly. Musoma has improved in leaps and bounds.I wish to go there soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am thrilled to see the pictures of old houses and buildings of Musoma after half a century. I can only remember one building and that used to be Shri Rao’s residence.(Jashwant Rao’s father). I am longing to see picture of Nanak chand primary School. Please, Could some one put on the web if he has preserved? Anil, you were my student at Nanak Chand prim School. remember me?

Wow….I was born in Musoma and can remember it vaguely. When you live abroad with the hustle & bustle of every day life, one cannot help but appreciate how calm & peaceful Musoma was and still is. Miss the walk near Lake Victoria and the serenity by night when the moon shone on the lake, Mkendo Primary School, the beautiful J.K., the warmth and hospitality that Musomians always had, the naiveness of the natives etc,, is in itself a good memory..but hopefully, someday, I will be able to visit ….
Kudos.. to all those for their contribution and efforts in keeping the website running and updated for all of us.. Way to go :-)

Warm Regards.. will keep tuned for more

I echo the thoughts of Mkendo Primary School, boating with my brothers and his friends, the beautiful J.K. and the garden, seein the moon shining on the lake as we walk back from Khane to home, the calm life and the kind natives.. no matter how old you get one can never get over Musoma…At the time it was too boring to have such a calm life and after living in North America over 3 decades one learns to appreciate the peace that Musoma offer. Bravo to all for their hardwork in keeping this website running.

The 1st picture is the Ghandhi Street, The building you see is where Late Mr. C.M.RAO’s family was residing at the rear part of the building and later occupied by Late Mr. Kassam Ali Radia and had his shop in the front, later on the shop was occupied by Late Mr.Nurdin Habib and then occupied by Late Mr.Dwarkadas Kotecha(late Kumar’s and late Jagu’s father) The rear residential part was later on occupied by M.S. Raja family. The building had other shops which were occupied by Late.Mr.Dayalji Ramji Chudasama and Late Mr.M.S.Raja and others. The building next to that partly seen is The Tanganyika Emporium building owned by Late Mr. Pashabhai Patel which also housed The novelty Emporium (the Radio and Watches shop) owned by Mr. Chandubhai Patel. On the opposite side where you see a partly white car is the corner of M/S Chopra Stores.

The 2nd picture is showing the two buildings of Musoma Emporium Ltd. on the right owned by Late Mr. C.M. Rao and the one on the left is Alibhai (Masasi) Building.and the road between the two buildings leads you towards the lake where you can go to Kapoor Auto Garage, Musoma Auto Works of that time and to the beautiful JamatKhana.

In the 3rd picture you can see Musoma Emporium Building has been renovated and the terrace has been developed into residential flats and hotel. The 4th picture is the Alibhai (Masasi) Building.

The 5th and the last picture is Ex Chopra Stores and I guess it also housed M/S Bahdur’s Radio House.
