Musoma

Last week MusomaBlog promised some group pictures from way back. These pictures will create a lot interest among Musomians. It is hoped that our community, spread across all the corners of this world, will join forces and make these pictures even more interesting by naming or identifying the people in the pictures. It would also be appreciated by many Musomians, if various stories, anecdotes, memories surrounding these pictures are shared.

MusomaBlog requests all Musomians to share any information on the following pictures, submitted by Mr Vikram Thind with the help of Mr Pritpal Sandhu. Information such as, year the picture(s) were taken, events surrounding the pictures, and of course, identifying the people in the pictures.

Hello there:

Thanks to all of you for your condolences and sympathies on the sad demise of my mother Zerakhanu (Fatma) Hussein Bhanji Rehemani.

I browsed thru the website and thought would let you know that I am her daughter, Mina Hussein Bhanji. 

My mother passed away in Dar-es-Salaam on Thursday October 4th at 10:15 a.m. at the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar-es-Salaam.  She died of heart failure.  Her sons Riyaz and Maheboob Bhanji live in Dar-es-Salaam and l, her daughter Mina, live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.    

I was able to also attend the funeral on Saturday October 6th at the Upanga Jamatkhana Social Hall in Dar.

I had visited Dar during the Golden Jubilee on August 17th and the family had fun and met all the friends and family from Musoma after a long time.  Most of the people who were visiting from other countries who were Musomians also met my mother.  The entire family celebrated Golden Jubilee together.

My Mum fell sick on August 21st and went thru pneumonia. However, she recovered after two weeks.  I came back to Edmonton (Sep. 13th) and subsequently exactly after 2 weeks she passed away on the 23rd day of the holy month of  Ramadhan.  Here cemetery is located at the Ismaili cemetery in Dar-Es-Salaam.

We miss our mother terribly and all we can do is pray for her soul to rest in eternal peace.

My mother is survived by her Sons Riyaz, Maheboob, her Daughters-in-law – Shairose Riyaz Bhanji and Shama Mahboob Hussein Bhanji; Daughters Izat, Nadia, Mina and Grandchildren: Taslim, Alikhan, Yasmin Dinani, Sabrina Esmail, Rina, Shairin & SirhanRiyaz Bhanji, Noren & Ruhee Maheboob Bhanji & Talib & Aseef Daredia.

I did attend the 2005 reunion in Toronto and thoroughly enjoyed meeting everybody and of course my childhood friends as well.
