The following information was received by email, from J C Rao, informing the sad news about the demise of a fellow Musomian.
Pramod the brother of Chiman rang me at home informing me of the passing away of our fellow Musomian Chiman C Patel in Bolton yesterday.
He must be about 67 years old.
I personally knew him very well and we all grew up together in Musoma together with his elder brother Late Bhailal (who drowned in an accident in Lake Victoria near Musoma Pier) and here, in the UK, we used to exchange courtesies every month over phone but he was ill with diabetes and had to have both his legs amputated.
But on July 18, 2007, Chiman succumbed to his long illness.
We will certainly miss him but humans are helpless against God’s will and wish.
We have to all pray to God to bless the soul of the departed with eternal peace and may HE give strength to the family of the departed to bear this untimely sudden loss.
Please pass on your condolences to Chiman’s family at:
59 Leach Street
Bolton. BL365D
United Kingdom
Tel: (01204) 391060
Will email to the funeral details as and when they are available.
Meanwhile I will be grateful if you could kindly inform the fellow Musomians and
oblige.
Musomablog came across this slide presentation of the timeline of events and activities of the Aga Khan. The first slide shows the actual wording of the will created by Aga Khan III, wherein his grandson Karim is appointed the Aga Khan, Imam and Pir.
The striking thing about this appointment is the foresight and forward thinking decision by Aga Khan III in choosing his grandson as his heir. A decision made with the community in mind. Using the words of the will:
…..in these circumstances and in view of the fundamentally altered conditions in the world in very recent years due to the great changes which have taken place including the discoveries of atomic science, I am convinced that it is in the best interest of the Shia Muslim Ismailia Community that I should be succeeded by a young man who has been brought up and developed during recent years and in the midst of the new age and who brings a new outlook on life to his office as Imam.
To celebrate this occasion in London, more than 10000 Ismailis in UK are getting together, all day, on Wednesday 11th July 2007 at Alexandra Palace, which was recently acquired by Firoz Kassam.
