Musoma

The following Video (Moving Clip) has nothing to do with anything remotely connected with Musoma or even Africa. While cleaning out my email inbox I came across this Forwarded Email with presentation of the workings and mechanism of the Dabbawalas in Mumbai(Bombay), India. I find it pretty much interesting and amazing, every time I see this presentation, how so much is done by so few, for so little. A mere $4.00/month!!

Those who are familiar with life in Bombay will know that the Dabbawalas are a very important and integral part of life. People get to their respective offices/work places early. Instead of buying lunch (frugal is an Indian’s inherent charachter) or carrying lunch (which would be quite cold by lunch time), practically every apartment in Mumbai use the services of these Dabbawalas.

The lunch is put in a Tiffin Carrier which then goes into a simple  insulated outer container – called the Dabba! And the Dabba then goes on a convoluted, yet effective journey to its destination by the designated lunch time and one more journey back to its home after lunch.

All this with no use of any level of Technology or training.
